“Haaa, You Still Add To Their wahhala”- Surr0gate Mother, 34 Weeks Pregnant, Allegedly Flees with Twins After Couple’s 19-Year Wait for a Child

A surrogate mother, currently 34 weeks pregnant, has allegedly disappeared with twin babies meant for a couple who have been trying to conceive for 19 years.

The heartbreaking development was shared in a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), stirring widespread reactions online. According to the post, the couple had been hoping to become parents since 2006.

The message read:
“Omo!!!! Surrogate mother vanished with couple’s twin babies at 34 weeks. The couple has been waiting since 2006—19 whole years! The biological mother will be 50 this year and is gradually losing it. Imagine. Why are people so heartless?”

The emotional story quickly gained traction, with many users expressing sympathy and frustration in the comments section.

Here are some reactions from concerned users:

@DotunAdebiyi17: “But Doc, who is that baby going to be sharing blood with—the father or the surrogate mother? I’m not sure I understand that part.”

@oluchi__x: “A set of twins at that! Any mother would lose it. They should investigate thoroughly.”

@Ayodele_B_A: “The biological mother should stop waiting. She didn’t carry the twins. Surrogacy is a 70/30 risk—it depends on the surrogate. Legally, she’s their mother.”

@amen_samson: “Legal contracts in surrogacy aren’t always enforceable. Laws differ across countries. In Nigeria, there are no clear regulations. In the UK, for instance, surrogates can’t be paid.”

@amen_samson (follow-up): “There’s also a rising issue of parents abandoning surrogate babies due to gender or disability. Some surrogates are left to care for children they weren’t supposed to raise.”

The case has brought renewed attention to the legal and emotional complexities of surrogacy in countries like Nigeria, where regulations remain unclear or unenforced.
