Nollywood star Chioma Akpotha was moved to tears after being announced as the Best Lead Actress at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
She triumphed over strong contenders including Gbubemi Ejeye, Uzoamaka Onuoha, Uche Montana, Hilda Dokubo, Uzoamaka Aniunoh, and Bimbo Ademoye to clinch the prestigious award.
Although she was absent from the ceremony, Chioma shared an emotional video on Instagram, tearfully thanking God for the honour. The actress, overwhelmed with gratitude, simply wrote:

When she was announced as a nominee back in March, Chioma expressed gratitude to God for the good gifts and how grateful and blessed she was for the nomination and recognition. Chioma noted that every moment on screen is a story shared, and people’s support is her driving force.
