“It’s His Industry Colleagues That Are Ganging Up Against Him” – Portable Accuses After Ibrahim Chatta Loses at 11th AMVCA (Video)

Controversial Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has alleged that certain individuals in the entertainment industry are being deliberately sidelined.

Reacting to the outcome of the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), Portable claimed that actor Ibrahim Chatta was a victim of an industry gang-up after missing out on the Best Lead Actor award. Chatta, who was nominated for his performance in House of GAA, lost the category to Femi Adebayo for Seven Doors. Adebayo’s co-star, Chioma Chukwuka, also clinched the Best Lead Actress award for the same film.

Reacting in a video message shared via his Instagram page, Portable insisted that Ibrahim Chatta was more deserving of the award for Best Lead Actor.

He said, “My fans, there is a gang up in the Nigerian entertainment industry, even in Nollywood. They didn’t give Ibrahim Chatta an award at the 11th AMVCA despite his impeccable acting. That was how I was also snubbed by The Headies Awards.

“We don’t need awards. We need food, we need money. We have money but we can’t use money to buy awards like some persons

“Ibrahim Chatta, if they don’t award you, God will reward you. My boss, you are my mentor. I love you.”

Recall that Ibrahim Chatta made a similar claim in 2023 when he was yet to bag an AMVCA nomination. He had claimed that his exclusion from the award was a conspiracy against him.
