Popular Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about a distressing experience from his early career, revealing how he was defrauded by a fellow actor after borrowing money from his father to produce his own film.
In a candid interview posted on Babaibe TV’s official YouTube channel, Adedimeji shared that the project, which was meant to be a stepping stone, turned into a major setback. According to him, the actor he entrusted with the funds vanished and is still owing him ₦400,000.
“I borrowed money from my father, but unfortunately I couldn’t make any profit from it,” he said. “The actor that collected the money from me is still owing me ₦400,000. I still can’t find him till today.”
Despite the painful experience, Lateef said he didn’t give up. He expressed gratitude to senior colleagues Yinka Quadri, Fathia Williams, and the late Bisi Komolafe, crediting them for helping him find his footing again during that challenging period.
