
Yoruba Nollywood actress Bimpe Akintunde is mourning the death of plus-sized model and body positivity advocate, Monalisa Stephen.
According to a report by 9jagossip on Wednesday, Seun Oloketuyi, CEO of Best of Nollywood (BON), confirmed Monalisa’s passing via Instagram. He revealed that she died in Lagos on Tuesday, May 13th, after struggling with low blood sugar and internal bleeding. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by her immediate younger sister.
Reacting to the news, Bimpe lamented why Monalisa didn’t reach out to all during her trying times. The Yoruba actress prayed that her sweet soul rest in peace as she sent a condolence message to her family.

Back in 2022, the plus-size advocate revealed how she had been battling Diabetes since she was a child. The TV star further revealed that she was recuperating gradually and had also been dealing with trolls who drop a lot of negative comments on her social media pages.
In March, Nollywood lost a veteran, Nkechi Nweje. According to reports, the movie star died after a brief illness.
A month before Nkechi’s death, Nollywood lost a veteran and an academia, Columbus Irisoanga. His colleague, Hilda Dokubo, posted the sad news on her Instagram page, expressing how heartbroken and heavy her heart was over the bad news.
