“He Would Be Proud of Me, Even in His Grave” – Mercy Aigbe Gets Emotional as She Fulfills Her Late Father’s Last Wish (Video)

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has finally fulfilled one of her late father’s heartfelt wishes.

Speaking during the launch of the movie My Mother Is A Witch, the star actress revealed that it had always been her father’s dream to see her act in a Benin-language film — a goal she has now accomplished.

Regretfully, he won’t be around to see the film.  Knowing that he would be proud of her, Aigbe wished he could witness this.

Mercy is undoubtedly making her father proud in every aspect. The movie star beat several of her colleagues, such as Meg Otanwa, Tina MBA, Ireti Doyle, Ini Dima Okojie, Omoni Oboli, and Darasimi Nadi, to win Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride at the AMVCA 11th edition.

Days before the AMVCA, Aigbe reflected on her first AMVCA win and noted that she has received several nominations since then. The wife of Kazim Adeoti expressed gratitude that despite over twenty years in the industry, she is still relevant and still gets nominations. Aigbe said she can’t override the power of consistency, authenticity, and reinvention in her journey.

Mercy Aigbe made her first delve into Cinema production with Ada Omo Daddy which grossed one N187 million and was the 3rd highest grossing movie in 2023. This was a huge milestone, especially with competition from Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham.

Following the success of her first Cinema movie, the movie producer had worked on her second Cinema movie, Thin Line which was also a success at the Cinema as it grossed over N100 million at the box office.
