Veteran Actress Tola Oladokun Reveals How She Got Her Start in the Movie Industry

Veteran Nigerian actress Tola Oladokun has shed light on the types of roles she chooses to play in movies, revealing that her personal values and family background greatly influence her decisions.

In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the respected actress explained that her husband’s strict nature may have played a part in shaping her career choices. When asked whether his opinions prevented her from accepting romantic roles, she responded, “I’m not called for such roles. I’m called only for mother roles—maybe because I’ve been offered romantic roles twice and rejected them. That could be why they now cast me strictly as a mother. I don’t do romance or play a witch in movies.”

Oladokun emphasized that her choices go beyond her husband’s influence, rooted deeply in her upbringing and personal convictions.

When asked if avoiding romantic or witch roles was deliberate or due to circumstances, she explained, “When I told my father about my love for this profession, he said, I shouldn’t do what I can’t handle.”

Tola Oladokun has become known for her strong emotional presence in motherly roles, a part she continues to embrace with pride.

Her story reflects how values, family influence, and personal discipline have shaped her journey in Nollywood.
