Akin Olaiya tied the knot on Saturday in a private ceremony attended by close friends and relatives. However, a particular clip from the event, which captured the actor joyfully dancing beside his seemingly unresponsive bride, stirred up mixed reactions online. Many speculated that the bride might have been coerced into the marriage.
Addressing the rumors, a female relative of the bride released a video to clarify the situation. She firmly denied claims of a forced marriage, stressing that all cultural and traditional rites were duly observed and that the union was consensual.
“To everyone asking if our daughter was forced to marry Akin Olaiya, that is not true. Her bride price was properly paid in full by her husband. We didn’t give her out cheaply. They love each other so much. We Hausas don’t give our daughters out because of money or friendship. This union is pure love,” she said.
