Nollywood actress Empress Njamah has sparked reactions online after sharing a video of herself turning down a marriage proposal.
Posted on her Instagram page, the video captured the emotional moment she politely declined a proposal from a close male friend. In the clip, the man expressed that he had prayed to God for a life partner, and believed Empress was the answer to that prayer — but her response suggested otherwise.
“I prayed to God and He answered me and brought you my way. Will you marry me?”.
Speaking out, Empress noted how he omitted the fact that he threw it in front of his friends and family, whom she respects. She further expressed how humbled she is that a man of his calibre was on his knees for her, yet she is interested.
“I am so emotional right now, but I have to speak. You actually omitted the fact that you threw this in front of your friends and family. I respect them so much, and I am overwhelmed. I didn’t expect that it would happen so soon. Coming from the king of Abuja, for you to go on your knees, to do this for me and at the end of the day, I said I am not interested”.
In her caption, Njamah said she said no because friends don’t marry each other. The friend of Late Ada Ameh added that it’s better they’re friends than lovers.
