In a touching interview with Behind The Fame African A-List, the legendary actress, whose career in the Nigerian film industry spans over six decades, reflected on how her journey, despite its successes, has been marked by deep personal sorrow.

Recalling the tragic incident, she shared, “When I returned from Baba Mero’s burial, my child and I went to sleep. I woke up, but my child didn’t. Everyone faces one challenge or the other, but we must continue to thank God. If we keep fasting and praying, He will see us through.”

The actress, known for her resilience both on and off screen, admitted that the incident remains one of her toughest life experiences. Yet, she emphasized the importance of moving forward despite grief.

When asked if all she endured was worth it because of her career in the film industry, Iya Awero responded, “No, but it has happened. What can I do? I moved on with my life. I can’t sit down and fold my hands just because of what happened. I have to move on with my life.”
