A Nigerian taxi driver has captured hearts online after discovering $100,000 left behind in his vehicle by a passenger — and choosing to return it.
In a video making the rounds on TikTok, the driver’s rare display of integrity was applauded by many. Rather than keep the large sum, he turned to a local radio station to make a public appeal in hopes of locating the rightful owner.
The video showed the driver in a studio, holding the money and explaining how he found it. The caption praised his honesty and compassion, highlighting him as a beacon of hope in today’s world.

As expected, reactions poured in from social media users, with some commending his character, while others questioned his decision:
@ezemalonginusuche: “This man will stay poor forever for missing God’s opportunity. Anyone who forgets $100k surely has more where that came from.”
@Daniel Ogbu Jr.: “How does someone carrying $100k even use a taxi? Sounds fishy to me.”
@Flexy: “Everyone is mocking this man, but he’ll sleep well at night. I did something similar as a teenager. Peace of mind is priceless.”
@Enshi_Sheriff: “This is how generational wealth begins — with one big thief.”
@BORO K: “Must be a Hausa man. An Igbo man won’t return that kind of money.”
@Da Modest: “God forgive me, but that taxi driver may never be rich again. He lost a divine blessing.”
@Àbâs Dè Grèàt: “If I found that kind of money in my keke, first thing I’d do is play Usama Pluto on full volume.”
@LONER: “God gave you a blessing, and you handed it over to the government. Not even the poor benefited.”
@Derrick Oxomms: “God tries to change people’s lives, but they don’t always recognize it.”
@favour: “Chai! Why can’t luck like this come to me? At least keep $1k and return the rest — that’s still honesty.”
@Sheddy3000: “Anyone who can forget $100k in a taxi probably has millions more at home. Let that sink in.”
Despite the mixed reactions, many continue to applaud the driver for choosing integrity over greed.
