Popular Yoruba actress Bimbo Akinsanya has opened up about the emotional struggles that led to the end of her marriage and the misconceptions that followed her decision to walk away.
In a candid interview posted on Kunle Afod TV’s official YouTube channel, Bimbo shared intimate details about her short-lived marriage, which began in 2014 but lasted only a year. Despite the joy that typically comes with starting a new life together, things quickly began to unravel, forcing her to make the difficult choice to leave—just months after becoming a mother.
The actress revealed that one of the most painful parts of her separation was the judgment she received from others in the industry. “Some of my colleagues thought I left my marriage so I could sleep around with different men,” she said. “But they didn’t know the emotional pain I was going through.”
Bimbo’s story sheds light on the silent battles many women face behind closed doors, and her courage in speaking up serves as a voice for others navigating similar paths.
Bimbo opened up about the difficulties she endured during the marriage, noting that she made the heart-wrenching decision to leave when her son was only three months old. As painful as it was to break up with her husband at such a tender moment in her child’s life, she felt there was no other option left. Her departure marked the end of a short-lived marriage, and she soon found herself navigating life as a single mother.
In the interview, Bimbo also addressed the misconceptions that surrounded her divorce. Some people speculated that her reason for leaving the marriage was to engage in extramarital affairs, but she clarified that these rumors were far from the truth.According to Bimbo, no one truly understood the emotional turmoil she had endured during the marriage.
She shared that, despite the challenges she faced, she is now embracing her current reality as a single mother. Bimbo expressed that her journey as a mother had been both rewarding and difficult, but she remains focused on her son and his well-being. The decision to prioritize her child’s future over her marriage was one she doesn’t regret.
According to her, “I got married in 2014, but my marriage lasted for just 1 year, and I’m now a single mom. Some people think that I left the marriage to fornicate with different men, but none of them knew about the pains that I went through in the marriage.”
