Nigerian Islamic musician Abdulkabir Bukola Alayande, popularly known as Ere Asalatu, has shared how one of his songs inspired a man and his entire family to embrace Islam.
Speaking in a recent interview, the singer recounted how the powerful message in his lyrics moved the man so deeply that it led to a life-changing decision. Ere Asalatu also revealed the warm and respectful treatment he received from the man during his visit to the United Kingdom, expressing gratitude for how his music continues to touch lives beyond Nigeria.
According to the video that was posted on the official YouTube channel of Wasilacoded TV during an interview, he claimed that a man in the UK started practicing Islam when he listened to what he said in one of his songs.
According to Ere Asalatu, he said, “When I went to the UK for the first time in 2009, a man took me on a shopping trip but I was scared because he was a man. He took me to his house and my mind was at rest when I saw his wife. He told me that he’s from Ekiti State in Nigeria but that he has never gone back home for 20 years that he has been in the UK. He told me that he doesn’t practice any religion with his children and that they are always at home. He said he listened to one of my songs were I was praising the prophet and he was scared that if he doesn’t practice Islam he will go astray. He told me that was how he started praying five times daily and he always takes his children to the
mosque with him. I swear to God, a man in UK started practicing Islam when he listened to what I said. He told me that he later went back to Nigeria to check his family but that his father was already dead and there was no way to communicate him and it was only his mother that was still alive. He said that was why he took me for a shopping trip the first day he saw me in the UK because I changed his life with his song.”
