Gospel Singer Tope Alabi Opens Up About Her Struggles During Childhood

Popular gospel singer Tope Alabi has opened up about the challenges she faced during her childhood, particularly the struggles within her family.

Speaking during a live session, Tope Alabi revealed that her father often cursed her when she was a child. She also shared that she never felt loved by her parents and was treated like an outcast in the family. Her emotional account shed light on the difficult experiences that shaped her early years.

‘When I was a young girl, my father would go to the front of my room and rain heavy curses on me. He used to say ‘what kind of useless child is this?’ He h@ted me with passion. There was nothing to write home about me. I thought he should love me as my father but he didn’t. The only time he didn’t curse me was when he held his rosary(We were Catholics). Whenever we had a party or during festive periods, he would buy new clothes for the other children except me. I became an outcast in my own family. My dad already concluded I can never be successful in life. After I have made it, he came to visit me one day and I gave him Amala with Bushmeat. When he finished eating the food I said ‘daddy I hope you remember how you used to curse me when I was young’ and he replied, ‘Haba that has gone’. IF GOD CAN CHANGE MY STORY, HE CAN DO IT FOR YOU TOO’

Her words touched many netizens as the reacted to her story.
