Renowned Nollywood actor Rotimi Salami has opened up about the challenges he faced in his early career, which once made him consider stepping away from filmmaking to focus on his studies.
In an interview on Feelrightnews TV’s official YouTube channel, Rotimi revealed that he was deeply hurt when some producers rejected him for movie roles, citing his small face and slim physique as reasons. He admitted that the criticism brought him to tears but eventually found the strength to move past the experience and continue pursuing his passion for acting.
In his statement, he said, “It was not easy at all during the time of our movie auditions because it was quite far from where I was living that time. One of the challenges that I encountered that time was that when I go for movie auditions for 3 years I was given only one movie role. One of the challenges that I faced that time was that I have a small body and a small face and I was told that the movie roles that were available that time was for actors with bigger body. I cried when some producers said they can’t give me movie roles because of my face and body.”
