Veteran filmmaker Adebayo Salami, popularly known as Oga Bello, has recalled how he reacted when his son, Femi Adebayo, slapped him during a movie scene.
Speaking in a recent interview, the legendary actor revealed that Femi, known for hit films like Jagun Jagun and Seven Doors, came to him after the scene to apologize and seek forgiveness.
Oga Bello explained that he held no grudge, as Femi was only fulfilling his role professionally. In fact, he stated that he would have scolded his son if he hadn’t delivered the slap as required by the script.
The respected thespian, who recently celebrated his 60th year on stage, emphasized his belief in professionalism over sentiment when it comes to acting.
In an interview in ‘The Nation’, Oga Bello, whose new film, ‘Her Excellency’, is in the cinemas, notes: “Well, let me tell you, if I’m acting with him or any of my sons on set, I’m not seeing them as my son, I’m not seeing them as my child at all. I’m looking at them as a colleague, I’m looking at him to interpret his role properly, and I interpret my own too properly.
“I must confess to you, if, when he came and said, ‘Daddy, I’m not being rude’. And I told him, ‘God save you if you had not slapped me, I would have slapped you after the shooting, because you didn’t do the part, you didn’t interpret your role very well, and they must do it properly.”
