Since then, I have been confined to a wheelchair. We tried everything—hospital treatments, therapy, and prayers—but my condition never improved,” she lamented.
Motunrayo further revealed that after the passing of her husband, Yemi Adegunju, life became even more difficult for her and their children. She accused the Nollywood industry of neglecting her family, stating that many of her late husband’s colleagues distanced themselves, offering no support during their time of need.
According to her, the financial burden of raising her children and managing her health has been overwhelming. “After my husband died, many people who used to be close to us disappeared. They no longer picked my calls or checked on us. It has been a lonely battle,” she shared.
Despite her struggles, Motunrayo expressed gratitude for a few individuals who have extended help, including actor and filmmaker Kunle Afod, who visited her and shed light on her plight. She hopes that sharing her story will encourage more support for her and her children.
Her heartbreaking account sheds light on the harsh realities she and her children have faced since the passing of her husband. She lamented how the financial struggles have left her unable to access basic necessities, making daily life incredibly difficult.
Motunrayo also expressed her disappointment in the Nollywood community, revealing that many of her late husband’s colleagues abandoned them in their time of need. According to her, despite Yemi Adegunju’s contributions to the Yoruba movie industry, support from fellow actors and filmmakers has been almost nonexistent.
“The people who used to visit us, who used to call, have all disappeared. I have reached out several times, but they either ignore my calls or make empty promises. My children and I have been left to struggle alone,” she said tearfully.
She appealed to well-meaning Nigerians for assistance, emphasizing her need for mobility aids, medical care, and financial support to ease the burden on her children.
