Renowned Yoruba movie actress Regina Chukwu has opened up about a harrowing experience she faced while staying in the same hotel as veteran actor Akin Lewis after working together on a movie set. She also revealed the terrifying encounter she had with unknown gunmen before they eventually released her.
In a video shared on the official YouTube channel of Regina Chukwu TV, the actress recounted how she was lodged in a hotel alongside Akin Lewis when armed kidnappers forcefully broke into her room and abducted her.
Detailing the incident, she said, “I was invited to a movie set where I was initially supposed to stay for just a day. However, the producer insisted that I remain overnight because Akin Lewis had to leave early the next morning. I was taken to a hotel to spend the night with him, but then everything took a frightening turn.”
and when we got there, I discovered that the hotel was full of prostitutes, so I told the producer and Akin Lewis that I wasn’t going to stay in the hotel. Akin Lewis pleaded to me to sleep in the hotel, so I had to respect him because of his age and personality, but listening to his plead was my biggest regret. I started hearing noises from the prostitutes, but I decided not to go out of the room, and while I was undressing myself to sleep, somebody forcefully hit the door. I lodged in a hotel with Akin Lewis when some kidnappers broke the door and took me away. They took me with a car and drove off to a place where they used my ATM card to withdraw all my money, and they only gave me one thousand naira for transportation.”
