“Femi Adebayo and Other Producers Refuse to Cast Me Because of What My Brother Told Them – Odunlade Adekola’s Brother, Oyekanmi Jethro, Reveals”

Yoruba film actor Oyekanmi Jethro Adekola has opened up about some of the struggles he has faced in the movie industry, including being grossly underpaid for a role early in his career.

During an interactive session shared on the official YouTube channel of Mtec TV, Jethro revealed that actor Owolabi Ajasa once paid him only ₦700 after inviting him to feature in one of his films.

Reflecting on his first paid job outside his brother’s theatre group, he said, “Since I’m part of my brother Odunlade Adekola’s theatre group, he always includes me in his movies. Odunlade pays actors very well, including me, and he never tries to take advantage of our relationship as brothers.”

Actor Owolabi invited me to feature in his movie, and he paid me just 700 naira. The payment that I received from Owolabi was the first payment that I received from outside my theatre group.”
